Beijing stories

Beijing stories

Master student Jon Tombre participates with his project at the festival Barents Spetakel 2019 in Kautokeino.

«Beijing stories» – is a visual, physical soundtrack by sound artist Eirik Blekesaune and director Jon Tombre. Based on texts written by Jon during a working visit to Beijing in 2017. Jon experiences what it is like to be a stranger, how to lose himself and become another when you are a foreigner. “Beijing stories” tells of a meeting between a Norwegian director and five Chinese actors, their work together and the challenges they face. We follow Jon from the confused landing in the vast metropolis until he stumbles and finally reaches premiere.

The performance is part of Jon’s master project “Kødd & Melankoli” at the Academy of Theatre, Oslo Academy of the Arts.
