Open Forum: FRANK

Open Forum: FRANK

Open Forum are happy to introduce a talk with FRANK, a platform for artistic practices revolving around gender, desire and sexuality.

Time: Monday, December 3 at 19.00. Student beer and free soup from 18.00. Khartoum is open 17:00-01:00.
Place: Khartoum Contemporary Art Center, Bernt Akers Gate 17.

"In 2012 we established a platform to give time and space to artistic practices revolving around gender, desire and sexuality. It began as a salon, an intimate gathering of friends and strangers in artist studios and living rooms, dedicated to films, performances and presentations by local and international artists. Our later practice branched out into curated group shows, publications and film programs exploring various topics with a queer-feminist approach. Central to our practice has been the (re)writing of feminist history, the absence of queer archives and desire to shape new collective experiences."

"FRANK is about close down and we are looking for ways the project can live on and inspire others to self-organize. We will use the Open Forum to open a conversation about our initial motivations, experiences and fruitful failures. On this occasion we have invited our artist assistant Marin Håskjold to ask us questions, in collaboration with the Open Forum organizers."

Open Forum
is a student run initiative from the Academy of Fine Art in Oslo that runs at Khartoum Contemporary Art Center (KCAC) every other Monday night. Open Forum seeks to create a meaningful exchange of ideas and a dynamic space for dialogue and debate between art students, artists and others. The talks are structured around different topics, from those closer to artistic and curatorial practices to other of social and political relevance.
