Akademirommet: People Behind Gallery Wall

Lars Nordby

People Behind Gallery Wall is the first part of the series that consists of three inter-connected stagings that will take place at Kunstnernes Hus this semester. Second part, Tango, or Echoes of Conditional Self-Assertion is a collaborative project with dancer Ida Haugen and will take place 19th March. The third part, Quiet Protest, Silent Admiration is a part of the MFA Graduation Show 27th May.

Lars Nordby (b. 1988) lives and works in Oslo, Norway and Vishovgrad, Bulgaria and is currently a MFA graduate student at Kunstakademiet in Oslo. His practice evolves around installation art and durational projects in public space and is currently preoccupied with his notion of the irrelational, which he states as “a theatrical burden in our hyperinteractive endeavour to assimilate the dark matters of subjectivity in relation to the Other”. Previous exhibitions included Echoes of Conditional Self-Assertion, Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago, USA (2015), Dear Hilesh, Chicago Art Department, Chicago, USA (2015), To Tole, Paradox Conference Biennial, Poznan, Poland / Up Gallery, Berlin, Germany (2015), Highway Furnitures, One Night Only, Kunstnernes Hus, Oslo, Norway (2014), and Red Bridge Project, Vishovgrad, Bulgaria (2013). Nordby is also the Director of Vishovgrad Art Center Foundation in Bulgaria (2015-).
