Olaf Tønnesland Hodne makes jewellery that emphasizes the use of materials as symbols of emotion. Building on the central theme of protection, Olaf composes shield like structures in a wearable, brooch form from natural cut stone, glass and found materials. His incorporation of these symbolic and heraldic shapes is a way of expressing honesty and vulnerability.

In the attempt to live life exactly as she wants, Jamie Kroeger devotes her research to the translation of environmental concepts and experience through contemporary jewellery. Connecting people to place through object-induced emotion allows her the luxury of using back-country travel and observation as valuable forms of investigation and inspiration.

Responding to Van Gogh's "Starry Night", Sun Ming Rui references patterns, both orderly and disorderly rearranging them to emulate the many combinations and systems found in nature. He combines natural and man-made materials emphasizing the interesting relationship that exists between man and nature. Considering the way that the density of collectivism can be compared to Van Gogh’s dense brushwork, Rui collects materials (natural and synthetic hair) and draws connections between the continuous and dense qualities thus creating a strong visual impact through simplicity and repetitive pattern.

Xihan Zhai creates jewellery that expresses feelings as an outcome from the illusion of movement. Her research process focuses on observation and documentation through photography and video. In this series of work, she transforms photos with light and natural movement. The blurred result allows the audience and wearer to experience and imagine the lightness of motion.
