Akademirommet: Transient Placenta
In this exhibition by Kim Laybourn and Erle Saxegaard, third and second year Bachelor's in Fine Art, a soundscape is presented and performative props functions as sculptural memories of a body and performance, which bear witness of the sculptures potential.

The placenta is a borderline organ between mother and fetus. It is a composite structure, sometimes described as a fetomaternal organ, because it develops from both the mother’s and the embryo’s tissues. It occupies a between-space inside the maternal space. The placenta is a transient organ. When its purpose is done the organ is discarded from the body.
A soundscape reinterpretation of the Japanese Noh-theatre feminized and sexualized trough a fusion with the Japanese erotic tradition of hentai. Sensual moaning modulating into abstract otherworldly sounds accompanied by artificial drums and deep tones, morphing into mantras of Hollywood, K-pop, creation and decay. Costumes and performative props or devices functions as sculptural remnants or memories of a body and performance, which bear witness of the sculptures potential.
