Agenda: Print Matters II
Print Matters, as part of Kunst og håndverk's Agenda programme, is a series of lectures exploring printmaking as a precursor to the image.
Printmaking is at first a possibility, a thought experiment held within a matrix, a material, a gesture, waiting for the moment when one surface meets another. Before an image can emerge, it must pass through matter, resistance, and time. Perhaps it is precisely within this interval, between matrix and impression, pressure and trace, what remains concealed and what is about to become visible, that the language of printmaking begins to emerge.
Through the practices of Anna Trojanowska, Endi Poskovic, and Sirkku Ketola, the programme considers printmaking not simply as a set of techniques, but as a way of thinking through material, memory, place, duration, and the body. Lithography, woodcut, and serigraphy enter into dialogue with performance, installation, and site-specific practice. Rather than simply extending the boundaries of the medium, these different approaches draw attention to what persists across them: the trace, the transfer, the repeated gesture, the encounter between matter and image, and the knowledge embedded in the act of making.
From this perspective, asking what printmaking is today does not necessarily call for another definition. Print Matters invites us instead to consider the language of printmaking: how it carries, transforms, and retains; how it connects gesture to material, image to memory, and individual practice to forms of knowledge that move between people and across generations.

Anna Trojanowska
Anna Trojanowska was born in 1978 in Wrocław, Poland. She holds a Ph.D. Awarded by Academy of Fine Arts and Design (Wrocław, Poland). Until 2015 she has been working as a professors assistant in Studio of Lithography and Graphics’ Promotion. Since 2015 she leads her own studio of Graphic User Interface on her Alma Mater. Her interests includes both: printmaking (mainly marble stone lithography) as well as an animation and graphic user interface design.
She presented her works on numerous exhibitions.

Endi Poskovic
Born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Endi Poskovic is an internationally acclaimed artist whose work explores memory, place, and transformation through print media and works on paper. Educated in the former Yugoslavia, Norway, and the United States, he has exhibited extensively worldwide at international biennials, triennials, and major curated exhibitions.
His work has been recognized with numerous awards, fellowships, and residencies, including a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, a United States Fulbright Senior Research Fellowship, a John D. Rockefeller Foundation Fellowship at the Bellagio Center, a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, a Norwegian Government Fellowship, a Camargo Foundation Residency, a Flemish Ministry of Culture Award, an Artica Svalbard Residency, a New York State Council on the Arts Grant, a MacDowell Fellowship, an Arctic Circle Residency, and an Art Matters Foundation Grant, among others. He has also been nominated for the Queen Sonja Print Award—one of the foremost international honors in contemporary printmaking—and the United States Artists Fellowship.
His work is represented in numerous public collections, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art; the Fogg Art Museum, Harvard University; the Detroit Institute of Arts; the Art Museum of Estonia, Tallinn; Fondation Fernet-Branca, France; Alive Jincheon Printmaking Museum, South Korea; the Stanley Museum of Art, University of Iowa; and many others.
Endi Poskovic is Professor of Art and Design at the Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design, University of Michigan.

Sirkku Ketola
Sirkku Ketola (b.1973) is a contemporary printmaker who combines serigraphy with different materials. She is a civilized savage who slows down the digital image stream through handicraft methods, trying to understand the relationship between human rhythm and matter. Time, repetition and sacredness of life are her main themes. Ketola earned her MFA degree from Uniarts Helsinki, and she has taken part in numerous Finnish and international projects and exhibitions. She lives and works in Finland, stays regularly in Belgium and lately also in Benin. As renowned in silkscreen, she is often solicit to teach and lecture in art academies. The artist’s work A Body Called Paula has made her an internationally followed artist.
