Avgang 2025: Daniel Frikstad / Hedda Resurrection

Hedda Resurrection is Daniel Frikstad´s graduation project in master in theatre at KHiO.

What if resurrection is a concept dearer to life than to the afterlife?
– Jessie Van Eerden –

Hedda rises. Hedda dies. Over and over, she is summoned, only to be undone. Ensnared in the relentless cycle of her own demise, we remain witnesses, captivated by the tragic repetition. Again, and again and again.

Hedda Resurrection presents a horror – a nightmare for some, yet a necessary escape for others. This performance delves into the unknown, which is strangely familiar, exploring fear, exclusion, and the ´other´ at the intersection of horror and queer identity. Moving through the shadows of the human condition, repression, and spectacle, where the queer body becomes both haunted and haunting, we gather to follow Hedda to the grave. You are invited to attend this funeral, this ritual, this farewell – an attempt to “break the cycle, shake the system” and finally grant Hedda with peace.

Please come dressed in black.

Daniel Frikstad is a performer and artist with a curiosity and fascination for the interrelation between horror aesthetics and queer experiences. This performance explores his project “queering Ibsen”, and is naturally inspired by Henrik Ibsen, as a Norwegian theatre student in Oslo. Someone once referred to it as the Ibsen Curse…

The performance will be in Norwegian.
