Kurt Johannessen: Arting 1982-2024

Kurt Johannessen will present his work on performance and textual work.

Kurt Johannessen (b.1960) works with performance, books, video and installation since the early 80s. His performances often have a poetic and minimalist language. He has published more than 140 artists' books at his own publishing house. The books are visual, poetic, and sometimes humorous. Since 2013, many of his books (About something) have been the basis for many performance lectures. These books are at the intersection of philosophy / art / poetry / science. Kurt will present his work on performance and textual work. He will also talk about the project "About Something" (2013-2020) which led to 20 books and many performance lectures. It began with a couple of books About Breath and About Thoughts, but developed into a longer investigation into what is and how to talk about what is. "About Something" influenced other textual work and much of Kurt's thoughts on art/arting.
