The Nettle Dress

The Nettle Dress

Welcome to a rare screening of The Nettle Dress, a documentary about the artist Allan Brown directed by Dylan Howitt, and a Q&A with artist and filmmaker.

In collaboration with the Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design at the University of Bergen, we are proud to present a screening of this documentary, for the first time in Norway, which follows textile artist Allan Brown on his seven-year journey—harvesting nettles and transforming them into a crafted dress. The movie is directed by Dylan Howitt, the film is a poetic tribute to patience, and a connection to/through natural materials.

Following the screening, there will be a Q&A with artist Allan Brown and filmmaker Dylan Howitt, moderated by Associate Professor Fredrik Floen. The event is hosted by the Design department (the specialisation in Clothing and Costume) in collaboration with the Art and Craft department.

🍿 Popcorn will be served.
