Midterm Evaluation: PhD Fellow Fredrik Hannestad
Research Fellow Fredrik Hannestad presents his doctoral artistic research project: Theatre and its morphogenesis.
Theatre and its morphogenesis
The background of this research is based on my belief that there is more to reality than what we see. We still don’t know what this “more” is unless we investigate and experiment. At the end of the day, this “more” often thrives in the realm of the poetic—in the sphere of affects and feelings—where we can sense it without being able to categorize it. It’s impossible to say what it is, because it usually speaks silently. So then, one could ask: why am I writing a text about something that speaks silently?
I believe, however, that it is possible to touch something significant through words, or at least approach the contours, the shadows of that which speaks silently—writing about the conditions for the unknown to appear. To make it clear, this is and will remain an impossible task. And if somebody ever reads this, I hope they will misunderstand everything and create something completely different.
About Fredrik Hannestad
In my artistic work, I combine the roles of director, playwright and actor in the theater company Verk Produksjoner.
The collective creation process engages me and has occupied me for many years. I am interested in the interdisciplinary approaches that can open new ways of working with text, actors and space that can give form and expression to the times we live.
