Mourning violence

Mourning violence

This is a piece of process oriented performance around the subject of representation of violence.

How can I perform in a way where I don’t hold the emotional responsibility of telling the story to the audience?

My name is Timothée Neie and I am a Master Student in Comparative Dramaturgies and Performance Research. I am currently working in between Paris and Norway. Within the context of my broader Masters research, I want to work on a performance which will allow me to tell difficult and urgent stories with a certain kind of gentleness and empathy.
This is a piece of process oriented performance around the subject of representation of violence.

About the artistic project

Mourning violence is about how darkness and silence as materials allow the exploration of the following subject: the representation of violence.
By darkness and silence, I mean darkness/silence within the languages of light, sound, space, materials and performance.

Or rather, Mourning violence is about exploring violence as a subject on stage.
Violence within stories, violence within broader narratives, violence within relations.

Or rather, Mourning violence is about the violence which is explored on stage.
In the bodies, in the space in between the bodies, in the space in between the different informations of the stage (light, sound, space, materials, performers…).
