Mausoleum sessions

Welcome to a collaboration between KHiO CHOiR and Chloe Elgie.

With an old cassette of Gregorian chant music as a starting point, the ensemble will improvise over the hymn «Veni Creator Spiritus».

There will be two sessions. Entrance is free, but send a mail to khiochoir@gmail.com to reserve a spot at one of the sessions, as the capacity of the space is limited to 35 people. Wear something warm.

About the museum.

Chloe Elgie (b. 1997) has her education from NSCAD in Halifax, Canada and the Art Academy in Oslo Norway. Her work focuses on sound using performance, installation and language. Recently she has shown at Grand Piano, Oslo; Anna Leonowens gallery, Halifax; Bergen Art Book Fair

Mikael Munz Bakketun (b. 1992) is studying at the Art Academy in Oslo and is the conductor and founder of KHiO CHOiR. He has a background in church music from Oslo Domkirkes Ungdomskor where he also received tutoring as a conductor. His artistic practice involves sculpture/installation in relation to the human voice. Past exhibitions includes a site specific performance for Østlandsutstillingen 17: construction for 4 singers.

The KHiO CHOiR was formed in April 2019 for students and employees at KHiO as a platform for working with voice exploration and intuitive improvisation as well as classical music. The choir counts 12 singers as of today. This fall the choir will also do a performance at Breadbox Contemporary, on November 29th.
