Dirkjan van der Linde

I am a practicing artist, living in Oslo. I have been an art academy student in the Netherlands and in Norway, moving between (then) painting and sculpture departments and working with sound. A common denominator is related to working with personal, social and architectural space and how we can maintain ourselves in it. The work takes place in as well as outside the studio.

What I am working on now / current interests

Lately I have worked on paintings on paper with texts that talk about the nature of sound. These paintings are preconceived. While working on them I want to be engaged as well as being absentminded. In addition, I am recording sound patterns that are related to obsessive or indifferent sound progressions

Pedagogical approach and expectations of students

Teaching takes place in dialogue. Whether in a course, a group critiques or a tutorial, we teach each other by sharing knowledge and insight and by asking questions. Knowledge is obtained by practice and curiosity. What is expected is engagement with your own work and the realization that you are part of an environment.
