Manuel Pelmuş

Manuel Pelmuș, born in Bucharest, Romania, is a choreographer and artist who reimagines performance in the context of the visual arts. He uses continuous live presence, enactment, and the human body to explore memory and the construction of history. His work has been presented widely internationally at Palais de Tokyo, Paris; MUNCH, Oslo; Tate Modern, London; Centre Pompidou, Paris; Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven; Para Site, Hong Kong; Judson Chruch, New York; MOMA, Warsaw; Dansens Hus, Oslo; TanzQuartier, Vienna; and Tanz im August, Berlin, among others. Pelmuș represented Romania at the 55th Venice Biennale together with Alexandra Pirici.. He has additionally participated in the Off-Biennale, Budapest; the Kyiv Biennale, Kiev; Gothenburg Biennale, Gothenburg; Off-Biennale, Budapest.In 2012, Pelmuş was awarded the Berlin Art Prize for performing arts and later recognized with the prize for excellence from the National Dance Center of Bucharest in 2015. He lives in Oslo.
