Congratulations on your offer of admission to Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO)!
This page contains the most important information you need before the start of your studies, as well as information about the start of your study programme.
You need an IT account to access KHiO's digital services, including Studentweb, Canvas and your student email account.
You can activate your account as soon as you receive an email from KHiO with instructions. This email is sent to new students at the beginning of August and also includes information about semester registration and the semester fee.
Please note: It may take up to 24 hours before your account works across all systems.
To register as a student, you must:
Studentweb is the student portal where you manage your studies. Here you complete semester registration, register for courses and examinations, and update your study plan.
Log in using the username and password you created when activating your IT account.
What is Canvas?
Canvas is KHiO's digital learning platform. Once you have completed your semester registration and registered for teaching, you will gain access to your courses in Canvas.
As a KHiO student, you will receive a student card that serves as:
The Student ID app confirms that you are registered as a student.
You can use the app as proof of student status with organisations such as SiO (the Student Welfare Organis of Oslo and Akershus) and on public transport.

All students must complete fire safety training.

Each study programme has its own introduction programme with practical information about your first day.
Read the information for your study programme before the start of the semester.
Om your first day, you will meet academic staff and fellow students, receive practical information, and be introduced to your programme.
We recommend reading the information about your study programme before you arrive.
Do you have questions about starting your studies, semester registration, your student card, or other practical matters?
By the start of the semester there is great demand for student housing. It is therefore important to apply for accommodation as soon as you have received a study offer.
Students at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts may apply for student accomodation at SiO (the Student Welfare Organisation in Oslo).
All questions regarding the application form and housing in general must be directed to SiO Housing.
Students may also apply for private accommodation.

Keep in mind that it may take a long time to obtain entry documents and visas.

Do you have any questions concerning your start of studies?
Contact the student adviser at your study programme. Write “Student Adviser” in the search field, and you will get the contact information for your student adviser. Under the name is information about which department the study adviser is associated with.
Oslo National Academy of the Arts has six departments, and there are one or two study advisers associated with each department. If you are admitted to, for example, the bachelor’s programme of Medium- and Material based art, you should contact the study adviser at Art and Craft.
