Jules Massenet’s opera “Werther” is based on Johann Wolfgang Goethe’s “The sorrows of young Werther”. This master-production performance is based on Mathilda’s own interpretation and new take of the story.

Plot

Charlotte is a kindhearted and obedient young woman. After the recent passing of her mother, she has taken on the responsibility to support and care of her younger siblings. Honoring her mother’s last words, expressing gratitude for Charlotte’s devoted husband, Albert, she feels bound to remain loyal to him. But everything get more difficult when she meets Werther, a passionate poet who showers her with heartwarming letters and awakens emotions she has never felt before. Torn between duty and desire, Charlotte begins to question everything. Can she truly let down her mother and family’s expectations, leave Albert for a chance at real love?
