Knut Arild Flatner

Knut Arild Flatner is employed as an Associate Professor of Jazz Dance at the Academy of Dance where he teaches jazz dance, choreographic subjects/jazzdanceimpro, repertoire and "jumps'n turns".

Flatner is an alumni from the National College of Ballet and Dance in Norway, with further studies in jazzdance from Los Angeles, New York and Stockholm.

He has been associated with Oslo Danse Ensemble since 1997, first as a dancer and in recent years as a choreographer. In addition, he has also participated in various musicals in Norway and abroad. Flatner was one of the founder of Subjazz in 2001, where he works as choreographer and teacher. With Subjazz he has choreographed abroad as well as in Norway and he has had much of Europe as a venue when it comes to workshops and master classes. Subjazz is now acknowledged as a creative force for the development of contemporary jazz and is considered to be a beackon in its field. Knut Arild received 3-year working grant for young artists in Norway. He has also been a member of the board of NoDa and served on the board of Proda to name a few.

With this comprehensive artistic background Knut Arild is considered one of the most prominent profiles in jazz dance in Norway, both as a dancer, teacher and choreographer.
