Dora Garcia: Segunda Vez

Professor Dora Garcia at Academy of Fine Art, presents her project "Segunda Vez", in a seminar at MUAC (Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo). MUAC is the largest public institution in Mexico to accommodate a collection of national and international contemporary art.

The project Segunda Vez, is a film and an analytic project with the help of writer, critic, artist an psychoanalytic Oscar Masotta, (Buenos Aires 1930 – Barcelona 1979). Dora Garcia and the assistant researchers Nora Joung and Olga Martí will first present a performance on Saturday 18 March, a repetition of a 1966 historical performance by psychoanalyst Oscar Masotta. The whole prosject will be presented at 21 March.

The exhibition they are participating in is called Oscar Masotta. La teoría como acción/Oscar Masotta. Theory as Action, it seeks to reconstruct the intellectual development of this thinker . The project, four years in development, examines the multifaceted career of the theorist and artist, a crucial figure in the transformations undergone in the cultural sphere of Argentina and Ibero-America in the period between the 1950s and 1970s.

The project Segunda Vez is honoured with a Norwegian Artistic Research Grant 2016-2017, and will end in a seminar. The seminar will be divided in two parts, one with an accent on pedagogy taking place at KHiO, Oslo, with students participating from all KHiO departments, specially dance and theater, and one with an accent on film and performance, taking place at Trondheim Kunstmuseum 23 – 24 November.

The Norwegian Artistic Research Grant:
The Project Programme was established with funding from the Ministry of Education and Research in order to contribute to academic members of staff at Norwegian universities and university colleges carrying out artistic research of high international standard.

The programme shall contribute to challenging and developing our understanding of artistic research, in dialogue with relevant national and international environments. Implementation of the programme’s profile through projects and arenas shall contribute to developing and promoting international debate on artistic research.
