Avgang 2025: Isak Ree Torgersen / Hermes Portefil presents: Hot Club – Le Mort de la Hauteur, Sonata in D Moll

Hermes Portefil presents: Hot Club – Le Mort de la Hauteur, Sonata in D Moll is Isak Ree Torgersen's individual MFA graduation project.

The great hall resonated with the dying vibrations of the grand finale. A momentary silence lingered before slowly erupting into a thunderous ovation accompanied by eager chatter.

On stage, the encumbered Mr. Portefil lay still, feeling a pressing mixture of gratification and grief that it was, at last, all over. Beneath this was a hope that none of his broken ribs had punctured anything vital.

He had learned that the weight of a piano eventually becomes irrelevant, but the wait for a curtain call can feel like an eternity.

// Born 1994 in Oslo, T. holds a BFA from Kunstakademiet i Oslo and studied sound art at the London College of Communication. T. plays on the success and collapse of artistic ambition—both literal and metaphorical. Rooted in the phenomena of music, T. entertains the pressures and absurdities inherent in creative work.

MFA graduation projects

The final year Master students will present individual graduation projects in different spaces at KHiO and around Oslo. These projects will be diverse in form and will take place at different times during the spring semester. Some of the projects will open simultaneously. The graduating students will also collectively explore the group format in a curated group exhibition.
