Exhibition

Avgang 2025: Vilja Houen Askelund / Jeg gror, igjen (som et sår)
The exhibition is Vilja Houen Askelund's individual MFA graduation project.
You cannot contain me. I cannot be contained. Where would you even put me? I was crawling inside your walls. There is no space for me. Oozing. Gooey. Reaching out. Touching and spreading. You cannot contain me. I cannot be contained.
Jeg gror, igjen (som et sår) is an art installation made for the youth library Biblo Tøyen. The exhibition is for youth aged 10-15 and is a big, lumpy and odd textile sculpture that stretches across the library.
Vilja Houen Askelund is an artist from Stavanger who lives and works in Oslo. In her practice she is interested in teenageness as a cultural phenomenon: how we understand and relate to the world as teenagers. She does sculptures and works with textile, clay, objects and collages. Askelund is currently finishing her Master’s from the Art Academy at Kunsthøyskolen i Oslo.

MFA graduation projects
The final year Master students will present individual graduation projects in different spaces at KHiO and around Oslo. These projects will be diverse in form and will take place at different times during the spring semester. Some of the projects will open simultaneously. The graduating students will also collectively explore the group format in a curated group exhibition.
