Open Forum: f.eks. / Scott William Raby
In this public presentation and discussion, artist and arts organizer Scott William Raby (US/DK) will introduce the practices and methodologies behind the Danish roaming art platform f.eks.
Situated in the post-industrial regional hub of Aalborg, Denmark since 2018, f.eks. has operated as a self-organized, artist-run project platform predicated on fostering interventions within (public) spaces, socially engaged approaches, and new forms of interdisciplinary artistic collaboration. With a focus on temporary and immaterial art making, f.eks. invites artists to work in situ alongside publics, communities, and stakeholders in relation to the conflicts and paradigms present in the wake of a waterfront city experiencing so-called “urban renewal”. In doing so, f.eks. puts focus on supporting critical and discursive projects in which artistic practices and S.P.E.E.C.H. (social, political, economic, ecological, cultural, and historical) conversations intermingle and find greater agency.
By presenting and describing selected projects f.eks. has produced over recent years, and partaking in a moderated discussion, f.eks. organizer and co-founder Scott William Raby will seek to unfold the practice of f.eks. further as part of Open Forum’s ongoing program.
Open Forum is a student-run initiative from the Academy of Fine Art in Oslo that facilitates lectures, talks and other live events within fluid settings. We gather the voices of different cultural workers, artists, curators and organizations operating in and out of Norway, to create a dynamic space for a meaningful exchange of ideas and debate between our community.
