Ceramics and sculpture

The ceramics workshop has facilities for both minor and major ceramics projects, and consists of a main workshop and several specialty rooms.

In the sculpture workshop, students learn to make moulds and shapes with an array of different materials.

Ceramics

In the main workshop the basic training in work with ceramic materials and methods take place, and students from the ceramic specialization have their workplace here. Potter's wheels, a 3D-printer, good worktables and other necessary tools and equipment for work with clay can be found here. The ceramic workshop and all specialty rooms are fitted to comply with health, safety and environmental requirements. Access to specialty rooms require specialized ceramic competence to ensure health and safety for students and staff, and are accessible to students with the necessary training.

The glazing lab is a specialty room for work with ceramic glazes and surfaces. It contains the necessary substances and equipment for mixing of bespoke glazes, as well as a glaze index.

Surface lab is a specialty room work work with ceramic screen printing and decals.

The kiln room is fitted for drying, glazing and firing of ceramic works. It has a number of kilns of various sizes, both electric and gas powered, and our biggest kiln can fire sculptures up to 3 meters in height. The kiln room is 8.5 meters high, and provides a unique opportunity to work with large sculptures, projects for public spaces and architectural ceramics. There is a dedicated zone for glazing and dedicated drying kilns.
