People at KHiO: Erik Solheim

Erik Solheim has worked at Oslo National Academy of the Arts (and the National College of Art and Design) for most of his life. He retired last year, but not before we had the chance to make a portrait film with him.

Together with his colleague Bror Mikkelborg, Erik has run the lithography workshop, located in the left-hand corner of the print-making and publishing workshop . Over the years, he has guided countless students, produced thousands of lithographs on a machine press weighing nearly four tonnes, and welcomed visitors including Her Majesty the Queen and several government ministers.

The lithography workshop faces an uncertain future. Yet all the work, knowledge-sharing, and passion that have shaped this space will, as Erik puts it, hopefully find a new home somewhere, either within or beyond KHiO.
