Communication 2
Brief course description
The course gives the student practical and theoretical knowledge about facilitating the public’s encounter with art and presenting art projects in public space. Theories of communication are used, and teaching takes place parallel to the student working on independent artistic work (the workcan be done individually or as part of a group project). The course emphasizes the need to incorporate such communication as part of developing an art project. It contributes to developing knowledge about contexts and the public.
The course’s learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student will:
- be able to identify, analyse and evaluate artistic, aesthetic and ethical issues related to the development of his/her master project
- be able to use suitable methods and approaches in order to articulate, make and develop his/her own master project within the frame of art in public space
- have the basic competence to contextualize, describe and analyse his/her own master project
Teaching and learning methods
Workshops with guest lecturers, presentations, discussions, text production, group work and independent work.
Coursework requirements:
The student must actively participate in discussions and complete and submit all written and practical assignments and/or presentations. There is an 80 percent attendance requirement for all organized teaching.
Assessment
Coursework requirements must be met. The course is assessed based on the student’s own work, as presented in a plenary session.
Grading is pass/fail.
