Master Project 2 Autumn
Brief course description
In the course Master Project 2, Autumn, the student will continue developing his/her independent master project (either working individually or as part of a group). The project should concern issues related to public space. Through further analyses and the acquisition of knowledge about a place, a context or a situation and its aesthetic, artistic, cultural, political and social idiosyncrasies, the student will work with an independent artist project in public space. While working on the project, the student will confer closely with the main adviser.
The artistic work can take different forms ranging from traditional sculpture in various media or architecturally-based installations, to relational art and social interventions. The master project can include diverse artistic strategies and methods that are developed independently or within the context of a group. It should include practical, theoretical, ethical and legal aspects related to the challenges of working with art in public space. As part of the project, the student should work on a written reflection which discusses the political, legal, geographical, financial and/or other preconditions and premises for the project.
The course ends with a review of the development and status of the student’s master project; based on work done during the course, the student presents a revised sketch, analysis and plan for carrying out the art project. The student will receive feedback which should be applied to the art project produced during the course Master Project 2, Spring.
