Here are some useful links and information about how to write academically and cite properly.
You are expected to use external sources when writing a paper of your own. The important thing is to cite the sources properly in your text. This is to ensure that the originator is credited, but also to make it possible for readers to locate the sources you have used. Passing someone else's work off as your own is considered plagiarism, which will lead to your paper being rejected.
