Luca De Marchi hired as the Academy’s new repetiteur

Luca De Marchi has been hired as the new opera repetiteur and pianist at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts. De Marchi has wide-ranging experience with both the theory and repertoire of opera after working as a vocal coach and pianist for various opera houses and festivals throughout Europe, Asia and the United States.

At the Academy, De Marchi will provide instruction in connection with singing lessons, tests, master classes, performances and concerts and also provide individual tutoring and supervision to the students at the Academy of Opera.

Luca De Marchi graduated as a composer from the Mozarteum Salzburg and also holds a Master’s degree in piano performance from the prestigious Conservatorio di Musica Benedetto Marcello di Venezia. After completing his studies, he worked as a repetiteur at the Prague State Opera and later at the Wiener Staatsoper, the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi di Milano. For three years, he was head of musical studies at Opernhaus Dortmund. He has worked for several famous opera houses and festivals such as the Salzburg Festival, the Beijing Opera and the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, in addition to teaching master classes in Salzburg, Suzhou (China), Russia and Italy.

Luca De Marchi began working as the repetiteur at the Academy of Opera on 1 January 2020. He took over for Jan Bjørnar Sture, who retired in 2019 after a forty-year career.
