Available Study Places – Bachelor's programme in Classical Ballet

We currently have available study places in the Bachelor’s programme in Classical Ballet. Application deadline is 10 September 2025 at 14.00.

The supplementary audition will consist of two rounds, with an elimination after the first round.

The audition will be conducted digitally (interview).

Only applicants who have submitted all required documentation will receive an invitation with further details about the interview.

Admission Criteria

Admission is based on an overall assessment of the applicant, considering the following:

  • Personal, artistic, and movement qualities
  • Potential for development
  • Physical suitability and health
  • Technical level

Successful applicants will be selected based on a combined evaluation of the audition video and the interview.

Audition Process

1st round 

Assessment of submitted documentation, including video link (see “Required Documents”). The Admission Committee will review all applications and select candidates for the second round (interview).

2nd round 

Interview via Zoom, scheduled for 12 September at 19:00 (CET).

Important Information

  • We will admit students to the first year of study.
  • Start of studies is immediate, once you are offered a place and accept it, you must be ready to attend classes at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts without delay.

    Applicants with a non-Nordic educational background must submit certified copies of transcripts, translated into Norwegian or English.

    Previous dance and ballet training must be documented through certificates or reference letters, written in a Scandinavian language or English.

    Upload a document containing open video links hosted (e.g. YouTube or similar). The video should be approximately 15 minutes and include 7 segments. For details on the required content, see the assignment below.

Assignment

Your audition video should consist of 7 segments, with a total duration of approximately 15 minutes.

All exercises must be shown on both right and left sides.

Barre exercises may be demonstrated on either side, but centre work, allegro, and pointe work should be 16 bars long.

Video Segments

  1. Introduction
    • Present yourself briefly on camera.
  2. Class Video (in soft ballet shoes)
    • Warm-up in 1st position, back to the barre, barefoot to highlight foot structure and line
    • Pliés (1st, 2nd, and 5th positions)
    • Tendus / Jetés
    • Fondu / Adagio at 45° and minimum 90°, including grand rond de jambe
    • Grand battements
  3. Centre Practice
    • Adagio highlighting arabesque and à la seconde lines, with port de bras
    • Pirouette combination including en dehors and en dedans
  4. Allegro
    • Petit allegro on two feet
    • Assemblé and jeté
    • Sissonne
    • Grand allegro
    • Tours en l’air (for male applicants)
  5. Pointe Work
    • Échappés and retirés
    • Pirouettes en dehors and en dedans
  6. Classical Variation
    • Perform a variation from the classical ballet repertoire.
  7. Contemporary Solo / Enchaînement
    • A contemporary solo or enchaînement, maximum 2 minutes.
