Janne-Camilla Lyster

Janne-Camilla Lyster is a choreographer, performer and writer. In 2019 she completed her artistic doctoral project "Choreographic poetry: Creating literary scores for dance". She has a special interest in pre-figurative practices, notation systems and transdisciplinary work.

Her artistic practice and research follows three main trajectories:

  • the expansion between poetry and movement through development of choreographic poetry;
  • choreo-musical approaches, and
  • the temporal aspects of movement, including notation systems and experimental notation techniques, historical dances, and pre-figurative practices.

Underlying all three trajectories is share a deep interest in composition, method development, and transdisciplinary artistic expressions.

Lyster has published novels, plays, essays, and numerous poetry collections. She has previously also worked as a professor in creative writing. Her choreographic work is presented nationally and internationally.
