Samantha Albert: Between a Dog and a Wolf

Samantha Albert: Between a Dog and a Wolf

In 2005, a NASA mission deployed a robotic lander to study the Mars interior. The purpose of the mission was to study the planet’s crust, mantle, and core. The lander captured the above image, a sunset on the red planet.

In 2015, the U.S. Congress passed a law allowing companies to mine for resources in space.
The race to colonize the cosmos for the purposes of extraction and profit are thus already underway, making space the new frontier.
There are no rules.

The mythological boundaries between us and the great unknown threaten to shift from a consciousness of awe and wonder to one of exploitation and greed.

Between a Dog and a Wolf is an installation of sculptures that speak to this transitory state and to the fog of uncertainty.
