Artistic Research Lecture: Robel Temesgen: Sleeping with(in) Water
Robel Temesgen will talk about his thesis project, Practising Water; of Rituals and Engagements through the lens of his ongoing exhibition ‘Practising Water; Report #1’.
Following his lecture, Professor Jan Verwoert will join him for a conversation on the subjects of the project and his recent research trip to Sekela the source of the Blue Nile in the northwest of Ethiopia. The exhibition Practising Water: Report #1 is the first manifestation of the artist’s long-term research project exploring the connections between bodies of water and the human communities that have formed around them - the folklore, customs, and habits or forms of life that bind people and place together, and the ways in which spirituality and animism form a bridge between the human world and others. The exhibition is on at Kunsthall Oslo from 03.03.23 to 16.04.23.
