About the research week
In the 2022-2023 academic year, KHiO has started to take a closer look at “contextualization” within artistic research, starting with a strategy of raising questions. What are some of the various modes of unfolding, creating, and sharing context in art practices and artistic research? Why does today’s artistic research field often present itself with a strong focus on theoretical and socio-cultural contexts, while disciplinary and methodological contexts often remain more sparsely mapped landscapes? What creative forms does embedded contextualization typically adopt across various disciplinary areas, and what creative forms might still be utilized to make context explicit in artistic research? Etc…
Many of the sessions presented during this week invite opportunities for engaging poignant discussions around context in artistic research and raising new questions that will help to reveal and navigate contextualized worlds within worlds of artistic practice.
