Open Forum: Thora Dolven Balke / Conspirational practice

Thora Dolven Balke will be talking about her work as an artist, which shifts between an individual studio practice and collaborations in many forms.

Most recently she founded the art school Agder Kunstakademi inside Agder Prison with co-curator Kristine Jærn Pilgaard, developed and programmed with artists Hege Nyborg, Dag Erik Elgin and Sverre Gullesen. Dolven Balke will talk about her ongoing interest in experimental art education projects such as Mountain School of Art in Los Angeles and Capacete in Rio de Janeiro which she both attended, and give a presentation of Agder Kunstakademis genesis and current activities.

Open Forum is a student-run initiative from the Academy of Fine Art in Oslo, that seeks to create a meaningful exchange of ideas, a dynamic space for dialogue and debate within the academy, the art scene, and a wider panorama. As a nomadic organism, Open Forum takes different shapes, from lectures to performative events.
