Avgang 2022: Uchronic Memory Reenactment

The Exhibition Uchronic Memory Reenactment is Mattias Hellberg's graduation project in Master Fine Art (MFA).

During the last couple of years, I’ve found myself recalling memories which I later find out are rather doubtful or that they never took place. I’ve come to call these "uchronic memories" because they seem to transcend time and place, perceived reality and fiction. A memory of an event which might or might not have taken place, but whose effects still haunt me. Reenacting these events creates an ersatz memory or a Déjà vu situation, which in the end might reinforce my memories or make me doubt them even more.
