Satire in the Era of Trump

Satire in the Era of Trump

Mr. Fish in conversation with Erle Marie Sørheim

Mr. Fish is the signature Dwayne Booth, famed and notorious editorial cartoonist and writer, who has covered American politics for the last 25 years. He has proven himself a relentless critic of hypocrisy, abuse of power and warmongering, and his work is often concidered controversial in the U.S.

In light of the upcoming election, Dpt. of Design at KhiO has invited Mr Fish to an online conversation on the current conditions for visual satire in the US, and his long career of confronting both readers and successive administrations.

2017 saw the release of Pablo Bryant’s documentary «Mr Fish — Cartooning from the deep end», which cronichles the artist’s struggle to maintain his integrity as the national discourse hardens.
A link to the film will be made available to participants at the webinar.

When he’s not antagonizing politicians, nationalists and others, Mr Fish lectures at the Annenberg School of Communication, University of Philadelphia.

Erle Marie Sørheim is a Norwegian journalist and author.
She is one of the founders of empirix.no, a web journal on visual storytelling, and is presently writing a book on the history of editorial cartooning — and its future.

The webinar will be held in English.
