Art and Craft Lecture: Lars Sture – «why are you here?»

Lars Sture is the curator at Norwegian Crafts, running the institution ́s international exhibition- and project programme.

why are you here?
You know, like I don't want to be nosy, and we all got our reasons for doing what we do with our lives, but I wonder – everybody here on the block wonders – why are you here?

Lars Sture is the curator at Norwegian Crafts, running the institution ́s international exhibition- and project programme. As a curator Sture has been responsible for exhibitions and projects for institutions, museums and galleries both in Norway and abroad. Sture was part of the team involved in establishing a master's degree in jewellery at Central St. Martins School of Art / University of the Arts, London, and later became the program's first option leader. Sture has written texts and essays on contemporary visual arts and exhibition making, and he has lectured on the subject at seminars and biennials worldwide. Sture is on the editorial board of Kunsthåndverk, the leading magazine on contemporary crafts in Scandinavia, published by Norwegian Association for Arts and Crafts. Sture has since 2016 been a member of Arts Council Norway’s expert panel for Visual Arts.

As an artist, Sture’s work is in the collection of museums as well as public and private collections in Scandinavia, UK, Italy, Germany, France, USA and Japan. Sture has his education from Bergen National Academy of the Arts (Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design, Bergen University, N) in Creative Curatorial Practice, SHKS – Oslo National Academy of the Arts (N) graduating with an Major in Jewellery and a HND Higher National Diploma from Epsom School of Art, University of the Creative Arts (UK).
