A better past is still possible

A better past is still possible

The degree show of the Master in Fine Art graduates at the Art and Craft department opens Friday 7, 16.00 at Seilduken 1, KHiO.

A better past is still possible
is not a manifesto, but a temporal and spatial manifestation of various artist practices.

A better past is still possible is present, past and future!

A better past is still possible takes place in 10 spaces at KHiO and 5 spots throughout the city of Oslo.

A better past is still possible brings together contributions by Ask Bjørlo,
 Cathrine Alice Liberg, Elina Nilsson,
 Erika Reed,
Eyvind Solli Andreassen, Geir Backe Altern,
Helle Høeg Voldstad, Henriette Pi Eik,
 Ida Immonen,
 Ingibjörg Guðmundsdóttir, Jamie Kroeger,
Klaus Lindbak,
Kristine Ervik, Lucia Fiorani, Magdalena Kotkowska, Maïna Joner,
 Margrethe Iren Pettersen, Nina Björkendal,
Olaf Tønnesland Hodne, Sun Ming Rui,
Sarah Kazmi,
Shahrzad Malekian, Suzannah Rehell Øistad, Thomas Iversen and
Md Wahiduzzaman Bhuian.

Some of them studied in the course of MAMBA, others at MAPS.
MAMBA stands for MFA in Medium and Material Based Art and MAPS for MFA in Art and Public Space. Both studies are part of the Art and Craft department at KHiO.
If you think this is of interest, then we would agree!

You are very welcome to join the opening of A better past is still possible on Friday, 7 June at 16.00 at KHiO Seilduken 1, Fossveien 24, Oslo.
And you are also welcome and visit us from 8 – 16 June, daily 12.00 to 18.00.
If you like you will be guided through the show. All the time. Just ask!

A better past is still possible is the framework in which you can learn in 20 minutes
how to make a pencil from scratch, on Tuesday, 11 June 17.00 at the KHiO Auditorium.

It seems that Harun Farocki's film In Comparison from 2009 has accompanied our collaborative practice over the past few months. Even though we have not yet been able to see it together.
Therefore we will share this film with all of you and show it the same day, at 19.00 at the KHiO Prøvesal 2.

Later that day, at 21.00, Post Traumatisk Stress Disco invites humans, animals, garbage and plants to a collective cleaning ritual for
eyes and soul with visuals by Wild Wild Flower
at MIR, Markveien 61, Oslo.

A better past is still possible offers a tour, a catalogue and labels for the visually impaired. The exhibiton tour will start on Monday, June 10 at 17.00, KHiO Seilduken 1. If you are interested just contact us.

A better past is still possible attempts to be barrier sensitive, but it's a process and we are only at the beginning.

A better past is still possible offers you a publication with floorplans and maps which doesn't explain anything, but provides a transfer of all artistic contribution into printed matter. And, if you didn’t get a flyer with the program yet, you can get it here

In addition to the artistic contributions, A better past is still possible offers material inspections at various spots in the exhibition spaces. Watch out for our library tables!

A better past is still possible is already instagramable: @mfa_khio2019

A better past is still possible is the degree show of the Master in Fine Art graduates at the Art and Craft department.

This degree show is curated by Joerg Franzbecker together with the MFA graduates 2019.

A better past is still possible as a degree show might sound like its own contradiction, but is not. The past is our future and the future our past! It suggests a way out; when we manage to create a better version of the past, we might have a future!

A better past is still possible asks for your presence!
