environment embodiment - towards enchanted narratives

Stipendiat Fernanda Brancos doktorgradsprosjekt

Vitenskapelig sammendrag

Environment embodiment – towards enchanted narratives aims at developing embodied practices of movement and voice from a sympoiesis perspective of becoming-with in dialog with environments.

Sympoiesis is a concept coined by Beth Dempters for interpreting ecosystems as complex, self-organizing, but collectively producing, boundaryless systems.

Seeking to combine an autodidact movement-voice practice within somatic movement knowledge and approaches, while being interested in the agency of environments – with the premise of the body being also an environment. Based on sensorial and bodily practices, exploring perception approaches.

Inspired by Micro-phenomenology method of interview as a mode of inquiring and entrance into the depth of details in the artistic practice, as well as a mode of narrative.

The concept of sympoiesis also inspires modes of writing, approach to narratives, and ways of working with weaved dramaturgy.

Proposing to explore correlations by merging modes of narrative, enactment, performance, lecture, action, workshop to create performative experiences.

The project positions itself as part of a performance-oriented wave inside a Post-dramatic Theatre, while embroidering it with experimental thinking in artistic research.

Interested in dialoguing with Post-humanist Feminism, Environmental thinking, Anthropocene discourses and epistemologies of the South - so far.

The artistic works developed rise from the process itself, exploring dialogs with inner and outer spaces, collaborations, and other art works.
