Refugees from the war in Ukraine are welcome at KHiO

Art and design students who are unable to continue their studies in their home country because of the war in Ukraine are welcome to apply for temporary admittance to the Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO).

Information for students applying for protection in Norway

Are you a refugee because of the war in Ukraine?

So that we may get an idea of whether studying at KHiO will suit you, we request that you fill in a simple form.

“Refugees from the war in Ukraine who want to continue their studies within art and design are welcome here,” says Markus Degerman, rector of the Academy. “Our professional staff will do all they can so that young people seeking refuge from the war can progress in their studies as much as possible, and that they as quickly as possible become part of a community of fellow students who will take care of them.”

Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo (KHiO) / The Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO) is Norway’s largest public institution of higher education for artists and designers. KHiO is a highly specialized institution that offers Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes within six fields: fine art; art and craft; design; dance; theatre; and opera.

The Academy is already being attended by students from Ukraine, and additional Ukrainians have contacted us about the possibility of studying here.
